KVS Dileep
2010 Prasanthi Nilayam
On a fine afternoon in Kulwant hall, as I was hearing one of the elders speak, I was shaken from my dreamy stupor. ‘Look back, Thank God. Look ahead, Trust God’. I don’t remember who said it and when, but I remember that once I heard it, it changed me forever. For it was then that I truly started believing He was God. One of the barriers I faced in truly believing in Him was the fact that I never understood why He was God. If someone asked me why I believed Him, I had no answer. I did not have an out-of-the- world miracle to suddenly convince. It was a long wait, painful yet beautiful at the same time to get the clarity I needed.
Creating objects out of thin air, healing people, and countless other miracles I have witnessed from close quarters. These are starters, but not the main course of being a God. What is the one truly wonderful thing that makes God stand apart from a God man? The answer was staring at me whenever I looked at myself into a mirror. If I look back at what I was, and compare with who I am now, the difference is so startling. From the timid, unsure boy of the past, He transformed me into a confident individual with a firm footing in the present. Hence, ‘Look back. Thank God’. His greatest miracle is this transformation and that is the ever- lasting impact Swami has made on my life. And that is the moment; I truly believed He is God.
Who else other than God can bring about a transformation so subtle and so powerful? While the entire society pours kudos for our accommodating mindset and ethics, little do they know that it comes as a matter of fact for that is what we have been doing our whole life. If we analyse the hostel schedule and the activities, we realize that each event is a gentle blow by the master sculptor moulding us into the ideals the world needs.
In the events following the completion of this iteration of the Avatar, questions have been raised and fingers have been pointed. For all the doubts raised and questions asked, there is one answer. ‘Look Ahead, Trust God.’ We need to trust Him in the same way He placed His trust in us when He made us a part of His mission.
One of the teachers always used to say – ‘God has a plan and that is all we need to know’. We cannot fathom the mystery of the future and the role we have to play. But if we can truly believe Him and utilise opportunities as they come along to serve Him in some way, His expectations are fulfilled.
I see an endless bridge, only one step in sight.
I have no fear, for He is the guiding light.
Onward is the way to go, backwards not an option.
The Master pushes me forth, chiselling me to perfection.
