Karthik Ramakrishnan
B.Com & MFM,2011-16, Brindavan
Ruchir Sir, the human calculator, an inspiring teacher and Swami’s go-to execution man. These are some of the attributes that we all know him by. I have been closely associated with Sir on various fronts, (Commerce Student, BRN Stores, MFM, PG Project Guide etc.).
During our MFM, despite our class having one of the lowest strength, he persisted on ensuring that we got the best exposure to tackle the corporate world by having CFO’s and CEO’s of established entities take classes for us. Beyond the classes, Sir ensured that we possessed continued access to such industry veterans all throughout and some of it continues to this day, after 5 years of us passing out. As part of our industrial visits, we once entered into the actual trading room housing various desks (Currency, Interest) of one of the largest banks in India. I doubt if even experienced professionals would have been able to enter these coveted desks. Needless to say, it was sir’s zeal for his students to get the best, that got us there. Sir once said to us, “Don’t compromise your ethics to come to terms with the world but get the world to come to terms with your ethics and value behaviour!”
Through his sheer brilliance and hardwork, Sir painstakingly built up his financial portfolio, the returns of which would be envied by the top fund managers in the country. But despite that, like every other hostel teacher, he lived in a simple 10*10 room. Sir used his portfolio to fund education of deserving students and for other charitable ventures like an old age home etc. Despite mentoring thousands of students over almost 4 decades, similar to how we all feel that it is “MY” Swami while we used to assemble in Kulwant Hall for darshan along with thousand others, each one of us felt it was “MY” Ruchir sir while thinking of him. Hope we all emulate him, just as how he emulated Swami.
