VIDYULLEKHA

OFFERING BY SRI SATHYA SAI INSTITUTE OF HIGHER LEARNING ALUMNI

In Memoriam

My teacher and my mentor

Srikarthik, B.Com(hons) 2003-2006, Brindavan

I was one of those students who was not very good with numbers and was repeatedly scoring low marks in subjects like accounts, Business statistics and Investment analysis all of which were taught by our Ruchir Sir. Post examination sir had instructed me to solve at least two problems every day and submit them to him before the night prayers. I happen to be a very active participant in singing bhajans and other extra-curricular activities.

One of those days we were preparing for a drama to be presented before Swami as part of inviting Him to Brindavan. We would practice every day in the evening, in between study hours in Kalyana mandapam, which can be seen from Ruchi sir’s room. One evening when I went to submit my daily work, out of the blue sir started enquiring about the drama and practice. I told him that all was going well. He then enquired when I would be joining the practice every day. To which I replied post submission of my agreed homework. He then smiled and said “It is okay to try and understand in studies but opportunities to present in front of Swami do not come easily. Come back once your drama is done. You can make up by solving 4 problems a day”. As a teacher, sir knew of our interest and capabilities not just in the subjects but outside of our studies too.
A great teacher with a great sense of responsibility and love… Towards his duty … and more importantly towards Swami… Miss you sir…
I will always be proud of being a student of Swami and … Sri Ruchir Desai…
