OFFERING BY SRI SATHYA SAI INSTITUTE OF HIGHER LEARNING ALUMNI

In Memoriam

A Kind and Loving Teacher

Abhay Gautam
2002-2005, Brindavan

As I reflect on the time that I had spent in Brindavan during the years 2002-2005, many cherished memories flood my mind and in particular of Ruchir sir. Even though I did not study directly under him, I learned a lot from him.

Ruchir sir was a strict disciplinarian but he had a very gentle side as well. From external appearances he was very reserved, strict and a man of few words. However, once you got to know him, you would realise that he was a very sensitive, kind and caring person. His actions spoke louder than his words. He had a genius mind which excelled in all aspects, spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally and academically. He had a spark of brilliance which radiated and touched others positively. His work ethic was stellar. He was always committed to Swami’s work and mission. Whether it was running the co-operative store or the book store or teaching at the University or undertaking hostel duty, Ruchir sir never shied away from any commitment.

Ruchir sir’s passing is a great loss to the generations of students who have passed from the Institute and to the generations of students that will pass through the Institute. Even though he has moved on physically, his memories will stay forever. He will always be remembered with a smile on the face. He is gone too soon. I pray he rests at Bhagavan’s Lotus feet and may his legacy continue to inspire generations of students to come.
