Tribute to Prof. Anil Kumar Sir

It was in 1986. Prof. Anil Kumar was directed by Bhagawan to go to Narita, Japan to give a few talks. He was to fly from Mumbai to Japan. He was flying in from Bengaluru and I had to pick him up from the domestic airport in Mumbai and drop him at the International airport.

The flight from Bengaluru was delayed by 4 hours. There were no mobile phones in those days and I was waiting for him at the Mumbai airport. Prof. Anil Kumar was flying on Air India to Japan. I reached out to the Air India staff informing them of the delay and requested them to wait for the domestic flight to arrive. They were not ready to oblige. I waited anxiously.

The delayed flight from Bengaluru finally landed in Mumbai. It was 5:30pm. Through peak traffic we rushed to the International airport. We managed to get there in 7 minutes. To this day I do not know how we made it to the airport so quickly. To my surprise and relief the crew of the Air India flight who had earlier informed us they will not delay the departure were waiting for us. They welcomed Prof. Anil Kumar on board.  Through all this Prof. Anil Kumar was calm and unperturbed. As he was getting ready to board I asked him how he managed to remain so calm through this rush. He replied, “Swami told me Ratan will take care of everything.” Such was his faith in Swami words. He was doing Swami’s work and did not let his anxiety and emotions disturb his composure. He completely relied on Swami’s assurance and gave no scope for worry. I was blessed to witness his devotion to Swami.
