In memory of Ruchir Desai Sir,
17th May 2021, is the day of passing of our beloved teacher, friend, brother, father figure, Sri Ruchir Desai. A wonderful student of the Lord and an equally magnificent teacher who has touched and transformed lives across 36 batches of students, and innumerable more people through the talks that he has delivered on multiple platforms. Bhagawan said “My life is my message”. Ruchir sir embodied, “His message is my life”.
On 29th May 2021, the 13th day, Ruchir Sir’s mother wanted his students to remember their teacher by performing Narayan Seva, serve food to the needy, either as individuals or as groups. The Alumni, brothers bound by the Love and respect for their teacher, came together to fulfil the wish of a noble mother who gave them her son, a teacher par excellence.

Sai Ram. By Swami’s grace we had a beautiful morning program on Saturday May 29 at Sarva Dharma Service Center (Howell, NJ) in remembrance of brother Ruchir Desai.
The Narayana Seva in memory of Ruchir Sir was performed from 8:15AM-10:30AM. 100 food food bags (containing a sandwich, fruit, nutigrain bar, and water) were prepared and packed for distribution to the needy in the area. Additionally, bags of groceries (perishable items like milk/fruit/vegetables + non-perishables) were procured and packed for 30 families and given for distribution.
After the Seva, at 10:30am there was a remembrance program for Ruchir Sir in the main hall of the Center. Program started with bhajans, followed by an introduction of Ruchir Sir and the playing of a 10 minute clip from one of Ruchir Sir’s Samarpan talks. This was followed by Ruchir Sir’s mother on the zoom call speaking about her dear son. Grateful to aunty for coming on the call and sharing anecdotes about Ruchir Sir.
The final segment of the program was sharing of thoughts to pay tribute to brother Ruchir: from Brindavan we had Prof. R. Subramaniam and Shri Nandagopal, and from Prasanthinilayam we had Shri A. Srinivas Rao speaking about their experiences with Ruchir Sir. After these talks, the following Alumni present at Sarva Dharma center paid tribute to Ruchir Sir: brothers Suleen Patel, Sanjay Ghandikota, Sailatha Shankar, and Ravishankar Ghandikota. Grateful to the alumni who came on site and also all the other alumni who contributed to this program in tribute to brother Ruchir.
We are immensely grateful to the Sarva Dharma Service Center for their outpouring of love and support for this program. Special mention to the Young Adult group for allowing us to participate today in remembrance of Ruchir Sir through the weekly Narayana Seva that so lovingly and diligently perform.
