Advancing Innovation, Partnerships, and Social Impact at SSSRIF

The Sri Sathya Sai Research and Innovation Foundation (SSSRIF) continues to strengthen the innovation ecosystem at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL) through several landmark initiatives that embody the Institute’s commitment to selfless service, academic excellence, and nation-building. It serves as the bridge between groundbreaking research and meaningful impact. A significant milestone was achieved with SSSRIF being selected by the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), as one of the country’s bio-incubators.

This recognition establishes the “SSSRIF-BioNEST Incubator for the Advancement of Human Health, Biotechnology, and Nutrition,” which will significantly scale up the campus’ capacity for technical innovation and biotechnology research funding, while providing world-class lab spaces for aspiring researchers.

Strengthening Industry-Academia Partnerships

Further strengthening the innovation ecosystem, SSSRIF has introduced a structured Industry-Academia Engagement Framework that enables SSSIHL faculty and researchers to dynamically share expertise and consult directly with startups and industry partners. This framework is supported by strategic outreach initiatives through its Accelerator Associate, 99 Italics. SSSRIF has also leveraged its Business Acceleration Program Associate (BAPA) framework, which supports advanced, scale-up stage companies, by onboarding Deshavri Global Pharmaceuticals LLP—a specialist in global Ayurvedic healthcare and wellness frameworks—to promote collaborative research in targeted medicine.

In parallel, SSSRIF is proactively strengthening regulatory pipelines for its biological and scientific portfolio. The foundation is working closely with SSSIHL’s Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBSC) and Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) to provide comprehensive regulatory support for bio- incubatees during experimental and product development phases. The foundation is also advancing intellectual property (IP) development in the area of renewable energy under the guidance of expert Dr. Ganesh, who has over 30 years of experience.

Sparklab 3.0 Immersion Program

SSSRIF successfully organized the SparkLab 3.0 Immersion Program on June 19 and 20, 2026, at the MMLC, Brindavan Campus, in collaboration with SSSIHL and the Institute’s Innovation Council (IIC). Designed to identify, mentor, and evaluate promising innovators, the event focused on driving sustainable, real- world solutions through collaboration among entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and academic mentors.

This high-impact program attracted an overwhelming response of over 400 applications from across the country, spanning diverse industrial sectors. Following a rigorous selection process, 25 teams were shortlisted, and 15 finalist teams were selected to participate in the intensive two-day event.

These finalists were guided by 14 mentors, evaluated by 10 eminent jury members, and supported by six dedicated core volunteers.

The program featured insightful one-on-one mentoring sessions, business model refinement, and final presentations before an expert jury. Mentoring sessions focused on problem-statement validation, scaling frameworks, market relevance, and enhancing social impact. Ultimately, the teams were evaluated based on the comprehensiveness of their business roadmaps, the depth of their technological innovations, and the long-term sustainability of their models.

The valedictory session was graced by Dr. Sapna Poti, Director of Strategic Alliances at the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, who commended the collaborative innovation ecosystem nurtured by SSSIHL, SSSRIF, and the MANTHAN initiative. Other distinguished guests included Prof. B. Raghavendra Prasad, Vice- Chancellor of SSSIHL and Chairman of SSSRIF; Prof. Pallav Kumar Baruah, President of SSSIHL- IIC; and Dr. Sayee Manohar, Director of the Brindavan Campus. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates and mementos to all finalist cohorts, jury members, and mentors.

SparkLab 3.0 stands as a testament to SSSRIF’s vision of nurturing socially responsible innovators who combine scientific excellence with the values of service, compassion, and sustainable development. Through impactful research and innovation, the program carries forward Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s message that “Education is for Life and not for a mere living”.
